Lending a hand for almost anything...
BIOGRAPHY FOR SUSAN JACKSON
I was born and raised in Oklahoma where I grew up fishing with my father and playing basketball. I attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Physical Education. During college I played basketball, softball and field hockey.
After graduation from college, I married and worked as a Sports Programmer for the Cheyenne Parks and Recreation Department for seven years, and during this time had two children, Jaime and Jessica.
After moving to Fort Collins in 1990, I worked as a Sports Supervisor with the Fort Collins Recreation Department. I also began doing home day-care so I could stay home with the girls.
In 1992, we moved to Estes Park. We built our own house and I worked at the Harmony Foundation as a Recreation Specialist, and as a cook and teacher at Special Me Preschool. I later became the Executive Director of a non-profit school-age childcare center, Kreative Kids, where I served for 11 years.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, tennis, volleyball, and taking my Airedale terrier, Kobi, to the dog park. I have coached girl's softball and basketball for the Estes Valley Recreation and Parks Department. I have am an avid fan of my children's activities, which have included over the years, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, choir, track, baseball and softball.
I started my own business in the fall of 2005. After assessing the needs of the community and taking a look at my skills, I decided that I was best suited for "Jackson of All Trades". I have been hired to perform a wide variety of tasks, including painting, wallpaper removing and texturing, fixing up homes for sale, taking people to the airport and to doctor's appointments, dyeing yarn for a weaving studio, cleaning, substituting in retail stores, delivering flowers, supervising a volleyball league, childcare, remodeling projects, deck refinishing, landscaping, organizing, packing and moving, pet-sitting, cleaning out garages and basements, bookkeeping, inventory, radon mitigation and full service lawn maintenance.
I love the freedom of being my own boss, the wide variety of work, the opportunity to meet new people, and something new to learn each and every day. I enjoy being able to help people with whatever it is that they need help with. I have found that oftentimes I am simply the motivating factor for people to do something that they have wanted to do, but have put off because the chore seemed daunting alone. It has also worked out well for small businesses to hire me when they need help, but not enough to hire a part-time or full-time employee. I accept each new opportunity as a challenge and an adventure, and look forward to following wherever this road leads me.
